Key Highlights from the KBCNL session

Ms Jiang Yu, a science teacher from ShenZhen SongHe Primary School (China) shared her design of KB lessons on the phenomenon of “Sink or Float”, how the KB principles came alive in her classroom and how her fifth-grader generated promising ideas and deepened their understanding on buoyancy, gravity and density.

Ms Catherine, an art teacher from Teck Whye Secondary School shared her ART lessons focusing on “Enabling Student Agency in Art Education”. She described how she worked with her NT students through a continuous process of generating, reflecting, discussing, researching and improving ideas as the students worked on progressively more complex tasks. She saw an increased engagement and agency among her students. Her KB practice was a powerful demonstration of collaborative creative work with ideas through multiple mode of expressions.

Nastassja and Timothy, researchers from the Centre for Lifelong Learning and Individualized Cognition (CLIC), facilitated an interactive discussion that explored KB based on research evidence from neuroscience and psychology, sharing about “Thinking in the Brain”, from childhood to adulthood, and further discussed the development of executive functions in a typical KB classroom.
